Meet Your Match:
another Romantic Comedy by Stephanie Fowers
Girls DO like nice guys, and Jacqueline Childs will prove it, even if it means making a wager…that she’ll do everything to lose.
“It all started with a wager, you know, the kind you get in Chick Flicks and Shakespeare, except this happened in real life.”
The Wager
Jacqueline Childs has to prove to the President of the Bitter Boy's Club, Britton Sergeant, that girls do NOT like jerks.
The Players Jacqueline Childs believes that nice guys can get the girl and will prove it by supplying her best guy friend, the epitome of Mr. Nice Guy, with the lines and tactics needed to win the heart of the squirrelliest girl in the ward. If Jacqueline wins the wager, she gets to write about how nice guys can win in her love advice column.
Britton Sergeant serves as president of the Bitter Boys Club and plans on proving that girls will always pass over the nice guys and go for the jerk. The jerk will win the wager by stealing the squirrelly girl’s heart before Mr. Nice Guy even catches her attention. If Britton is right, Jacqueline must write her article in support of his Bitter Boy theories.
The Squirrelliest Girl in the Ward is waiting for Mr. Right, but has no remorse in stringing along more Barnacles and Backburner Boys than any other girl in her ward. But now unknowingly part of the game, she finds herself choosing a suitor: Mr. Jerk or Mr. Nice Guy?
Mr. Nice Guy is sincere and genuine in his affection towards the squirrelly girl, with the hope to make her his eternal companion. He has no idea it’s a set up.
Mr. Jerk is not afraid to use manipulation or flattery on his flavors of the month. Normally, once the squirrelly girl’s attention is gained, he quickly loses interest, afraid of commitment; but this time the stakes are higher.
The Rules
All’s fair in love and wagers.
However, when Jacqueline’s plan starts to work too well, she is afraid the worst will happen: she’ll win the wager, but lose her chance for her own Mr. Nice Guy.
